Congresswoman Trahan calls for reform to address data privacy in the Age of AI and digital advances.
U.S. Representative Lori Trahan of Massachusetts has launched an initiative to update the Privacy Act of 1974, requesting feedback from privacy experts, civil society groups, and government technologists. The move follows lawsuits accusing agencies of allowing unauthorized access to sensitive data.
Congresswoman Trahan stated, “The combination of challenges stemming from unchecked government officials and significant technological advances warrant a reevaluation of the Privacy Act of 1974 and related laws governing privacy and federal information technology.”
In her request for input, she seeks guidance on how to balance privacy protections with other priorities, reduce misuse of personal information, and implement stronger transparency and accountability measures.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Representative Trahan as she seeks feedback on the modernization of the 1974 Privacy Act.
- For wisdom for the president and DOGE officials as they seek to trim government wasteful spending and prevent fraud.
